5 Days Trip to Sahara desert and Marrakesh
Overview:
During this Trip to Sahara Desert and Marrakesh, you will be able to hike in the desert and try a camel ride on its beautiful orange dunes.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Fes – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga
Our Trip to Sahara desert and Marrakesh starts! We will go to Ifrane, also called “the Switzerland of Morocco”. We continue to Azrou where we stop at the cedar forest to see Barbarian apes.
Then, we drive towards Midelt and pass the Ziz valley. We will drive through Berber villages to reach Erfoud and Rissani. After we arrive in Merzouga, we check in to our desert hotel/riad.
Day 2: Merzouga – Desert Camp
We explore the desert in Merzouga. We will visit the Gnawa people in Khamlia village. Then, we go to Rissani, surrounded by ksar with a large local souk.
Then, we head back to the village of Merzouga to ride camels, guided by an experienced camel guide to explore the highest dunes in the Moroccan Sahara.
We will enjoy dinner served in front of the tent and we spend here night in the desert camp.
Day 3: Merzouga desert – Todra gorges – Dades gorges
We will enjoy a desert sunrise in the Merzouga desert and ride the camel back to the village. After breakfast and a shower, we head to Rissani, then Tinghir and Todra gorges. It is the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco.
After lunch in the gorge, we’ll drive through the Dades valley enjoying the rock formations of monkey toes. We stay overnight in Dades valley with dinner and breakfast.
Day 4: Dades gorges – Skoura – Ouarzazate
We drive towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate, called “the Hollywood of Africa”. Here, we may visit the local film studio and Kasbah.
Then, we head to Ait Benhaddou to visit the local Kasbah. It is the largest Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO historical site. We continue over the High Atlas mountains to we reach Marrakech where we’ll stay in the medina in a Riad.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Telouat Kasbah – Marrakech
After breakfast, we will set off for Marrakech, passing through the spectacular High Atlas mountains. We may visit Kasbah Telouat, passing via Tizi n Tichka mountain passes. Here ends our trip to Sahara desert and Marrakesh.
